Cookies and browser storage
Cookies are small values stored by your browser and sent with website requests. Local storage saves information on your device without automatically sending it with each request. We use the technologies described below.
Essential sign-in cookies
The cookies __Host-ecom_at and __Host-ecom_rt support secure sign-in and session renewal. Their default lifetimes are 10 minutes and up to 30 days respectively; server configuration and session renewal can affect expiry. Local development uses ecom_at_local and ecom_rt_local instead. These cookies are used for the sign-in service and are not controlled by the optional preference choice. You can remove them through your browser or sign out, but removing them can end your session.
Your cookie choice
On a first visit, Preferences and Google Analytics are on by default. A notice explains this and lets you keep them, change the categories, or choose Essential only. gadgethub-consent in local storage records your confirmed choice, the notice version and the time of that choice. We treat a confirmed choice as valid for 180 days, then show the notice again. Until you confirm a choice, the notice can reappear on later visits. This storage is necessary to remember and respect your choice. Clearing browser data causes the notice to appear again.
Optional theme preference
gadgethub-theme in local storage remembers your light/dark theme when Preferences are on (the default until you opt out). It has no separate automatic expiry; we remove it when you choose Essential only or turn Preferences off, or when an expired/invalid consent choice is replaced by a new notice. If Preferences are off, you can still change the theme for the current page session.
Optional seasonal effects preference
gadgethub-effects in local storage remembers that you turned seasonal animations (like the Halloween spiders and bats) off, when Preferences are on. It has no separate automatic expiry; we remove it when you turn the animations back on, choose Essential only or turn Preferences off, or when an expired/invalid consent choice is replaced by a new notice. If Preferences are off, you can still turn the animations off for the current page session.
Optional analytics
Unless you opt out, Google Analytics loads and may set identifiers such as _ga cookies to distinguish visits and measure page views, product views, cart actions, checkout and completed purchases. Purchase measurement uses the public order number, product details, quantities and totals; we do not send customer names, emails, phone numbers, delivery addresses or order notes. Analytics collection stops when you withdraw this category. Cloudflare Web Analytics is also enabled by our hosting layer for aggregate technical traffic measurement.
Verification and external services
If you request SMS sign-in, Google Firebase and reCAPTCHA may process device and network information and use their own security technologies to verify the request and prevent abuse. They are loaded for this sign-in flow, not as advertising trackers. Their storage and duration are controlled by Google. Our WhatsApp and Instagram links take you to external services.
Manage your choice
Confirm with OK, adjust Preferences and Analytics and Save my choices, or choose Essential only in the notice. You can reopen Cookie settings below at any time. Turning either optional category off does not block shopping or sign-in. Withdrawing analytics stops new Google Analytics events and removes accessible _ga cookies. You may also clear or block storage using your browser settings. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice applies for the current session and may not be remembered.
